Summer 2014….

July 6, 2014

Sooo….this trip may be a little more seat of the pants….I have a new ride (don’t worry – I still have the Jeep!), and I have to go to Philly for a day and NC for a day….so I’m thinking the Florida Keys?  I only have two and half weeks, but the adventure starts Wednesday.

Best Laid Plans….

July 13, 2013

Well, I’ve been taking pictures of the trip so far. The first day was RI to NJ, spent a day being lazy, went NJ to PA (farms farms farms!), and then spent an evening of fun with some friends in PA. And guess what? The cord to transfer pictures is sitting on the table in RI.  Hmmm….

So, if you would like some real-time fun updates, check out my facebook page!!

Like that page for pictures and short notes about town! Today is Philly!!

Mini Road Trip 2013

July 10, 2013

So, this summer has some other stuff going on that will make a road trip not possible (don’t worry, always planning next summer!).  But today starts a small road trip!

I’m in RI now, and I’m heading south on Route 1 to Jersey. Hanging with a friend there, then off to Philly!  A few days of fun with friends, a few days of work downtown, and then off to Rausch Creek Offroad Park with peeps from Ocean State Jeepsters.  Looks like a good couple weeks!!

Here come the updates…

June 1, 2013

So, I’m trying to plan a trip for the summer (East Coast, to Miami for ball game?)..and realize I have about 20 days to finish on last year’s trip! Yikes!  OK, I’m getting my butt into gear.  It’s easy now that the school year is winding down.

Day 34 – Seattle, The Great Wheel, & Safeco Field…

July 23, 2012

Every perfect day in Seattle needs to start with Pike Place Market – and an impromptu wedding?!?

P1040807 P1040809

Have you seen the original Starbucks?  If you haven’t, then you need to stop by there at least once.

P1040812

A short hike down to The (new) Great Wheel for a ride!

P1040813 P1040814

P1040820 P1040824

As cool as The Seattle Great Wheel is, I was bummed that the VIP booths weren’t working available yet.

P1040827 P1040832

Still…amazing views!

P1040838 P1040839

P1040840 P1040845

P1040847

On the way to Safeco – I had to twirl through Pioneer Square and visit my favorite pergola.P1040858 P1040859

A nice walk past some cheap rooms and the home to my Seattle Seahawks…and we have arrived!

P1040861 P1040866

Safeco!

P1040868 P1040870

What?!?! My favorite Catcher in the hall of fame?!? I wish I was to be there for it!

P1040872

But, today *was* the day that Ichiro was traded to the Yankees.  So….enjoy the last few pictures of Ichiro being a Mariner!

P1040874

Honk if you love Sexy Jesus! I do love the Triangle Pub though!

P1040881

And sticky notes that ask you to not deface the brothel.

P1040882

Oh – those will be gone shortly…

P1040887

And down to the game to watch the now Ichiro-filled Yankees play the Ichiro-less Mariners!

P1040892 P1040894

P1040900 P1040902

The view from my favorite bar – The Left Field Bar!

P1040933

And into the Batter’s Eye!

P1040934

A quick stop to say hi to Dave Niehaus

P1040939

And I was in line when Ichiro first came up to bat…as a YANKEE!

Day 33 – Ballard WA

July 22, 2012

Wandered with a friend around Ballard today.  For the those not in the know, Ballard is a neighborhood in the northern side of Seattle, and it is adorably arty-farty. I mean, it starts perfectly with competing coffee shops…

Ballard Coffee Works Starbucks

And a quick stop for sushi – since the Northwest is full of awesome little sushi places! Went to the yummi yummi Moshi Moshi Sushi.

P1040805 P1040804

Sitting at the sushi bar I get to look up at this amazing lit cherry blossom tree. I want one of these in my house.P1040803

I love Ballard – one of the crazy things is that they allow posts on the poles – every pole is filled with band flyers and neighborhood stuff.  It just seems so *friendly*

P1040802

In case you were wondering – Aliens Exist!

P1040800

So, the library is now a bar…The Kangaroo and Kiwi Pub!

P1040796

What? Another Coffee place?  That’s not the draw here, the draw is Cupcake Royale…the best cupcake place ever!

P1040794

Oh, this is too easy….You need to keep the kids on a short leash!!

P1040788

The Cell Phone Booth is outside…

Tattoo Parlor Phone Booth

And lastly, since Ballard is always a little….weird…

Day 31 – Downtown Seattle

July 20, 2012

You aren’t going to see your typical Pike Place Market shot here. I’m sure I took a few, but these are the only shots that stood out.

P1040761

If you ever need truffle anything…this is your place.

P1040762

I remember when this little cheese place opened up.  It still makes me happy.

P1040764 P1040763

Always nice to see some pride.

P1040765

This space for lease made me think of all the opportunities…Espresso shop anyone?

P1040766

One of the coolest stores in the city. I hope many people buy things from Metsker Maps so they stay in business!

P1040767

I couldn’t be so close without a visit to my old home. I loved this place.

P1040773 P1040774 P1040776

And all the fun around it – the Croc (good to see it open again!)

P1040772

And Ohana – my first (and best) sushi experience!

P1040775

And no trip downtown is ever complete without a quick upskirt shot!

P1040780

Off to hang out with friends!

Day 30 – Forks WA to Seattle WA

July 19, 2012

6666 Mi to 6871 Mi (205 miles)

So the morning started off with a lovely drive through the Olympics, and along Lake Crescent.  And fair warning – don’t mess with the truckers. These guys are nuts.  I’m doing 55-60 (along what was probably a 40-45), and this guy BLOWS past me like I was standing still.  Later, on a hill, I had to putter behind him. :-/

P1040615 P1040617

I come to the realization that there may not be many people that live in the area, since the cell reception was non-existant.

P1040625

I reached the point of Hwy 101 that it went from going North to going East…

P1040628

And had to stop for some wine to take in the idea that my Hwy 101 trip was now complete.  Harbinger Winery was just the place!

P1040629 P1040630

I finally made it to Port Angeles – where I got a glimpse of snow on the mountains…

P1040634 P1040637

I was a little confused by the “Fun on 101” signs, but I think it was for a Casino, but it wasn’t obvious.

P1040640

Yeah, 101 East still looks weird.

P1040642

And when driving by craziness on the roadside, you have to stop.  For example – there is Fat Smitty’s:

P1040647 P1040648 P1040649

What made it crazy is all the dollar bills on the walls an ceiling!  To think – earlier in the year, they actually took all the money down and donated it. But, in just a few months, it’s all back!!

P1040650 P1040651

Well now we’ve gone and done it….101 is officially going South again!  No!  This is where it ends, and I jump on another highway headed to Seattle….

P1040652 P1040653

Of course, for that to happen, there is the Ferry line.

P1040664 P1040666

My baby Jeep’s first Ferry ride!

P1040677 P1040680 P1040685

And there is the city that I love! Seattle!

P1040694

Wha?!?  A ferris wheel?!?  Yup.  “The Seattle Great Wheel” to be exact.

P1040716

And we are free!

P1040721

First, a cruise through Pioneer Square (near where I had my coffee shop)

P1040725 P1040727 P1040729 P1040730

And the home of my old coffee shop!

P1040734

The Space Needle!  How I missed you! (so much that I have a tattoo of you!)

P1040750

The Monorail.

P1040752 P1040754

And then I jumped on the freeway (not as exciting for pictures) to visit my friend Tiffy!  It’s a slow few picture days in Seattle, but I made the most of them!
